Hi all, I have just reached a threshold telling me i cannot do more link additions and inviting me to come back tomorrow. Where does this limitation come from ? and what for is it applied ?. It is rather frustrating because i can do a lot of work today and tomorrow i travel and cannot access to my laptop. i think it is not a favorable argument to retain users who can do more (think a commercial software with restricted functions, you soon forget the free offered version).

Actually how is the traffic with Suggested Tasks compared to other activities ? rare, poor, medium, heavy ? What is the median value of ST per day ? Twice the median would it be acceptable if limitation is to be applied ? In this case should be nice to have also the number of remaining allowed attemps not to surprise the user with an immediate 'get out!'

For me it would be nice to unlock this threshold. -- Christian 🇫🇷 FR ⛹🏽 Paris 2024🗼 (talk) 06:39, 16 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

This limitation is adjustable by French Wikipedia Admins via Community Configuration. You can find the Add a link (Structured task) configuration setting here. Currently the limit is set to 25.
There are two main reasons we set a limit.
- Volunteer patrollers asked us to set a limit. Patrollers often get frustrated by this feature (as it can generate a lot of edits quickly), so we limit the number of tasks an editor can complete to try to limit patroller frustration.
- So we don't run out of tasks. The "add a link" task is primarily designed for newer editors, and ideally we don't run out of simple tasks like this to provide to newer editors.
That being said, you are welcome to discuss the task with admins on your wiki and suggest the limit is increased. KStoller-WMF (talk) 23:42, 19 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

not working on Android ?

edit

Concerning the restriction "Add a link" is not available on Android and iOS apps. i work actually on a Samsung tablette under Android with its web browser Internet and the functionality works (both for the version Destop and the version Mobile). So is this restriction still actual ? Please correct or adapt consequently. Thanks. -- Christian 🇫🇷 FR ⛹🏽 Paris 2024🗼 (talk) 07:11, 16 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

The Android app has a variety of Suggested Edits, but they don't currently have an "Add a link" task.

The Android team might introduce this task eventually, or focus on other task types. I know the iOS team is currently exploring an experiment with an Alt Text Suggested edit:
