Translate the Minimum Name Length extension if it is available at translatewiki.net

The Minimum Name Length extension allows to set a minimum length for user names which will be enforced during account creation.

Installation edit

  • Download and move the extracted MinimumNameLength folder to your extensions/ directory.
    Developers and code contributors should install the extension from Git instead, using:cd extensions/
    git clone https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/mediawiki/extensions/MinimumNameLength
  • Add the following code at the bottom of your LocalSettings.php file:
    wfLoadExtension( 'MinimumNameLength' );
    
  • Configure as required
  •   Done – Navigate to Special:Version on your wiki to verify that the extension is successfully installed.

Configuration edit

To configure the minimum name length for a username, set $wgMinimumUsernameLength in the "LocalSettings.php" file, after the call to include the extension as described in the installation section, e.g.

$wgMinimumUsernameLength = 8;
10 is the default setting. In case you are fine with this you do not need to do anything.
