Applications for MediaWiki are continually expanding. In our presentation, we talk about how MediaWiki allowed different departments within our company to create/release highly structured documentation to our customers.
This presentation was originally created for Technical Writers who are interested in moving their content into MediaWiki - but may have value to anyone investigating powerful and expandable, open-source documentation platforms.
Key extensions for our use cases include:
- Extension:Cargo
- Extension:Page_Forms
- Extension:VisualEditor
- Skin:Tweeki
- Extension:MintyDocs - Others are well-known, but this custom extension was built specifically for technical documentation. Provides basic access control, drafting capability, versioning control, and some organizational structures (workspace/version/table of contents) for managing and releasing content.
