Category:PD Help was also created by somebody. Category:Help however is simpler, more maintainable and keep this wiki navigable. So let's use this Category:Help only. Furthermore, other sites using MediaWiki who will want import this probably wont license this public domain. Therefor Category:PD Help label is more harmful than helpful on these pages. --Rogerhc 23:08, 9 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Again, roger, I wish you would discuss these big changes before implementing them... for someone who is trying to 'build a community' here, you are quite a loose cannon... There was good reason for having a top-level 'Help' category, with 'PD Help' as a sub-category (along with other sources of help). I agree with some of your comments above, but there was wider discussion to be had here, and although it may not be obvious to you, some of the category names were chosen deliberately. I'm not saying your reasoning is incorrect, and I'm not saying that we shouldn't rename the category, but these things should not be undertaken without discussing them - at least with the people who setup the category in the first place! --HappyDog 01:26, 12 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
It is not sensible to try to have (and maintain) both a PD Help and a Help. The shorter label is better in the long run. Let's clearly express the difference between Help and Manual, as I have at the top of Project:Help, Project:Manual, Help:Contents and Manual:Contents, and stick to that model, or express a better one. We do not want people wondering what the difference between Help and PD Help is. The Project name should match the namespace it discusses. There is no PD Help namespace. Let's go forward, not backward. Clarity is for everyone who will come and want to contribute to this wiki. I want to make things better, not worse. How is reverting to "PD Help" helpful? (If it is helpful please explain because I want to help.) Thanks :-) Rogerhc 04:13, 12 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

I recommend that where-ever possible that we explicitly use external links vs internal links for all links to mediawiki/wikipedia/wikidictionary content not included in the [[Category:Help]] export. This will prevent a large amount of manual editing that is required to use this documentation as it is. --Grymwulf 03:06, 22 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

I would add that these links should be avoided wherever possible. If they are required, then (for the time being at least) I agree that external links should probably be used (although we may find a lot of helpful visitors 'fixing' them for us...). In some utopian future internal links will not be a problem. --HappyDog 01:51, 8 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
