Last week notes https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Release_Engineering_Team/Checkin_archive/20150421#Scrum_of_Scrums
Do these CI tasks need to be tracked for SoS? https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T72068 https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T88798
Beta Cluster stability / Staging
edit- https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/project/board/497/?order=priority
- Quarterly Priority: Green nightly builds on staging: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T88701
- Quarterly Priority: Stable uptime metrics of the Staging cluster: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T88705
- Unstable last week due to mgiration to new labs hardware yeah!, scap, disk full, mw stacktracing...
- Request from Andrew: If there are any instances that can be easily destroyed + recreated, please do (eg in staging?)
- Scap $TMPDIR craziness causing scap failures
Deployment Cabal
editTook a step back from fighting over salt/ansible/trebuchet/scap and decided to make a common model for ideal deployments.
- Once we have a shared vision, it's easier to decide what tools to use
- Will define clear steps and requirements for each of those steps
- Will take existing service deploys, MW code deploys, trebuchet-based deploys all into account
- https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T97068 might eventually contain details about this grand vision
Test history
edit- Quarterly Priority: By team test history: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T88706
- Gerrit repo https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/#/admin/projects/integration/raita
- Spinning up an integration-raita instance today (elasticsearch + tiny JS app)
- Needs to be publically accessible (labs web proxy? antoine: yeah, easy to setup via https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:NovaProxy )
- ElasticSearch puppet role & module? Chad can help.
Isolated CI instances
edit- https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/tag/continuous-integration/board/?order=priority
- Quarterly Priority: Disposable VMs - https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T47499
- Bump openstack flavor ci1.medium from 30GB to 40GB disk space https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T96706#1230309
- Antoine played with http://docs.openstack.org/developer/diskimage-builder/ to create a labs image. Nothing good came out of it yet. Not sure how to bootstrap an image appropriately for wmflabs context (ie setup DNS / puppet ...).
MediaWiki Releases
edit- Quarterly Priority: Release MediaWiki 1.25: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T88709
Phabricator
edit- TBD, Kevin Smith is doing stuff
- Ops Access Request
- T87467
Other Work
edit- Search team will be rolling restarting Elastic soon in beta/staging/prod for some plugin updates. Unlikely to impact much, just FYI.
- Mainly for fixing https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T95021 which is spamming fatalmonitor
