Nintendo Wii

edit

My wii, which has its own zoom setting, is automatically redirected to the mobile page when I wish it wouldn't. My DS *doesn't* get redirected in spite of the fact that it's probably the most memory-starved browser on the planet.

  • Don't redirect the Wii, but please do for the DS. kthx.

Wii will no longer be redirected, the DS unfortunately has a generic Opera non-mobile UA.

Idea: Make it only redirect known mobiles, and/or make it only redirect users with screens smaller than 1024 pixels on the larger side. I find this thing quite disruptive.

Chromium browser, open-source version of Chrome, should not be redirected to mobile

  • Mozilla/5.0 (PLAYSTATION 3; 1.00)

I get redirected to the mobile site, which looks very ugly on a widescreen TV. More importantly, I can't search or view talk pages or login. I can just click "Home", "Random" or a Main Page wikilink. Most importantly, the "permanently disable mobile site" and "view in regular Wikipedia" options are no longer there (for three days now). This site is as good as broken for me.

Should not redirect to mobile version

Opera

  • Not redirecting: Opera mobile 10.1 on a nokia n95-3.
  • Opera/9.80 (Android 2.1-update1; Linux; Opera Mobi/ADR-1107051709; U; sv) Presto/2.8.149 Version/11.10
Steps to reproduce: 1. Delete all cookies and other privacy data, 2. Reboot the phone, 3.Type in www.wikipedia.com/wikipedia in the location bar. Now you end up on the normal (immobile) Wikipedia.
Step 1 is necessary because mobile/immobile site preferences may be stored in a cookie and we need to ensure that the cookie isn't there. Step 2 ensures that the browser is restarted (not sure if needed). When doing the same thing in Opera Mini on the same phone, I'm taken to the mobile version of Wikipedia. URL syntax chosen to minimise the number of keystrokes necessary (very useful on a slow typing device such as a phone): there's a shortcut for ".com", "www." is already there and no "wiki." just gives a redirect to the right place.
Maybe the problem is that Opera Mobile for Android mentions both Linux and Android? The former might suggest a desktop computer... (213.100.158.73 09:33, 4 August 2011 (UTC))[reply]
Just for comparison, the user agent string for Opera for Linux desktop computers looks similar, but doesn't mention "Android" or "Opera Mobi": Opera/9.80 (X11; Linux i686; U; ja) Presto/2.9.168 Version/11.50. I wrote the initial message too, but from a different IP address. (212.247.11.156 22:13, 4 August 2011 (UTC

JavaScript and cookies are disabled on my iPhone, and I'd like to keep it that way (privacy, reduced 3G data consumption, increased speed). Now I can neither use the mobile version (requires JavaScript to expand the sections) nor the full version (disabling the mobile one requires cookies) of Wikipedia any more. Not even selecting "View this page on regular Wikipedia" for each article individually works as I am immediately redirected to the mobile version again. Please fix this by either removing the forced redirection to the mobile version or by making the mobile version work without JavaScript, as the full version would do if I could still open it... Thanks!

When my Mobile is redirected to mobile wikipedia, it causes the browser to crash, whereas normal wikipedia works fine.
