First, my profuse thanks for taking the time to lay this all out for us. Second, I could not get it to run on my command line, but Tech Support for my host did. That alone is an issue, because I don't know what if anything they did differently than I did. I got "could not open file". Third, and most important, I can navigate in a browser over the internet to a page called /sitemap.xml, which is blank. When I look at the file in my file manager, there are 4 gz files and one index. I am assume the index is the one that is the sitemap. But looking inside this file I get this:
http://wrong-url.fail////sitemap-mediawiki-mw_-NS_0-0.xml.gz 2011-03-23T23:36:14Z http://wrong-url.fail////sitemap-mediawiki-mw_-NS_1-0.xml.gz 2011-03-23T23:36:14Z http://wrong-url.fail////sitemap-mediawiki-mw_-NS_10-0.xml.gz 2011-03-23T23:36:14Z http://wrong-url.fail////sitemap-mediawiki-mw_-NS_14-0.xml.gz 2011-03-23T23:36:14Z
So, it is listing the four gz files and telling me I have the wrong url. Where do I go from here? Thank you. Natcolley 17:46, 24 March 2011 (UTC)
- Hi Natcolley, I am sure that you are referring to this page. I am not sure why it does not work via your shell. Sometimes in case several PHP version are installed on the server you have to add a affix to the call like php5 to set the version to be used. Thus your command would be
php5 generateSitemap.php --server=http://www.nameofyourdomain.com
. To me it looks that you did not replace the old file GenerateSitemap.php with a new file GenerateSitemap.php containing the code given on this page. In order for the index page to work you indeed have to rename sitemap-index-??????_.xml to sitemap.xml Hopefully I was able to help. Cheers [[kgh]] 17:28, 25 March 2011 (UTC)
Any luck with the adding of properties?

Hello, I saw your post over at the DataTransfer Extension talk... I'm really interested in solving that exact problem you mentioned. Have you had any luck?
If so, please let me know Dc321 01:08, 19 September 2011 (UTC)
- Hi Dc321, unfortunately not. In my case I just reimported the whole lot again to move on. Thus this is still on my wish-list. Cheers [[kgh]] 08:10, 19 September 2011 (UTC)

Found a solution for your $wgAntivirusSetup issue

See the $wgAntivirusSetup Talk Page for the details. I ran into the same issue as you did, and with some helpful brainstorming by the guys on the #mediawiki freenode channel, found it to be caused by clamdscan not having permission to read the temporary file! Draeath 17:20, 23 November 2011 (UTC)
- Cool, I will give it a try soon. Yes the folks at the freenode channel a really good! [[kgh]] 18:19, 23 November 2011 (UTC)
Depressive boxes

Hi! Would you mind to add a little bit of details in the infoboxes Template:ObsoleteExtension, Template:AbandonedExtension and alike? It seems pretty depressive when one tries to download the most usable and useful extensions (like Extension:LiquidThreads and Extension:FCKEditor) and find out that 'we advice him to to install it :) In my opinion we should note the alternatives of the given bad, obsolete or abandoned extensions. Katkov Yury 06:19, 26 November 2011 (UTC)
- Heiya Yury, I agree with you that reality is most depressing sometimes. :( Then it comes to LQT there is currently not alternative. :( WMF descided to drop support of v2.0 and hold development of v3.0 in favour of the extensions MoodBar and ArticleFeedback. So we just have to wait. Then it comes to FCKEditor there are actually some alternatives. I will add a not there. I also agree with you that these two extensions are useful. Cheers [[kgh]] 10:14, 26 November 2011 (UTC)
- In case of FCKEditor the extension Extension:WYSIWYG is great alternative, thanks for adding this link. Katkov Yury 11:16, 26 November 2011 (UTC)
thank you!

Curious what your thoughts may be on these concepts/drafts:

No worries, but what exactly is missing/incomplete with the page? Bawolff 16:33, 9 December 2011 (UTC)
- :) The script specific options
--force
and--skip-compat-checks
are not described. The latter option is something for developers and should not be used by people like me. That's quite clear. The first one however might be of interest for normal admins too. The script itself just says that you should only proceed then you know what you are doing. A little explanation why this may break a wiki using$wgMiserMode=true;
would be cool. Another thing is that only--conf
of the generic script parameters is described. Perhaps all the others should be inserted too, or this one should be removed or at least changed to "--help
- Use this to get a prompt of all available script parameters". Cheers [[kgh]] 16:46, 9 December 2011 (UTC)- Thanks. I actually looked through your contribs shortly after posting this and saw you mentioned the $wgMiserMode thing, so figured it was related to that :) Bawolff 16:52, 9 December 2011 (UTC)

Hi. Does the checkuser interface allow to find out an IP address used by an account to log in if no edits are made from the address? 88.154.105.33 23:14, 16 December 2011 (UTC) 23:14, 16 December 2011 (UTC)
- Heiya, I have never used Extension:CheckUser. Thus I am not aware of it's capabilities. It might be possible though. I recommend asking on the exentsion's talk page. Cheers [[kgh]] 11:10, 17 December 2011 (UTC)
Extension:Uploadify similar to Extension:SpecialUploadLocal

Just noticed you worked on Extension:SpecialUploadLocal too, you get around!
care to look at Extension:Uploadify which is also an uploading extension? Like, Extension:SpecialUploadLocal, Extension:Uploadify is broken and abandonded, but has a lot of promise. If you are not interested in fixing it, maybe add it to your watch list? Thanks a million for all your work! Igottheconch 23:32, 29 December 2011 (UTC)
- I follow heaps of links. It is one of my ways to explore that is around. I fixed the template on Uploadify and replied on the talk page. Cheers [[kgh]] 11:59, 30 December 2011 (UTC)
