Review process for Browser extensions? edit

Heya! Useful project, I think :)

I'm unsure what you mean by 'Review process' for browser extensions. AFAIK neither Mozilla nor Google require a manual review process before something goes on their distribution channels. I've released a couple extensions (for Chrome) in the past and they've always just gone through. It only required a one time fee, and that too is automated. Can you clarify? Hello Yuvi,
Thankyou very much for your interest and concern :)

I have some experience in making browser extensions, but I have never published any of the extensions to the web stores. So, I googled to get info on the extension review processes of chrome and firefox. Based on these articles and discussions, I made the schedule and my proposed work methodology.

For firefox:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/developers/docs/policies/reviews
http://blog.mozilla.org/addons/2011/02/04/overview-amo-review-process/
http://blog.mozilla.org/addons/tag/add-on-reviews/
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/developer_faq#review-process

For chrome:

https://groups.google.com/a/chromium.org/forum/#!msg/chromium-extensions/3tSWKUkmyN4/wldz_Fbbj6UJ
https://groups.google.com/a/chromium.org/forum/?fromgroups=#!topic/chromium-apps/PuF9lpnP7pM
https://groups.google.com/a/chromium.org/forum/?fromgroups=#!topic/chromium-extensions/6_m_JkX0mIA (though for non-english extension)

I don't know how true and practical they are, but just to ensure I can tackle even the worst cases, I will prefer to stick with my current plan. Still, if you think its really really worthless to have such a methodology, then I am always ready to amend it accordingly. Thanks again :) Gaurav Chawla (talk) 17:00, 18 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

For Chrome Store the review process is only if your extension is 'flagged' in some way - usually by using Native code of some sort. Most extensions aren't flagged. And with Firefox - you probably don't want their 'full review' for a long while, so that's fine too. I really think scheduling a lot of time for this is overkill :) Yuvipanda (talk) 17:04, 18 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
I have not assigned any time for these delays, I just made my work methodology, keeping this in mind. And, if this is the case with review processes as you said, then theres definitely no need of any special methodology. I will remove that part from my proposal. Thankyou for your help :) Gaurav Chawla (talk) 17:17, 18 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
