Hello, please don't add unit markers (the numbered comments) as you did on MediaWiki 1.21/wmf11, it's wasted time and you're highly likely to break things. The markers are added automatically, translate tags are enough. See Help:Extension:Translate/Page translation example for a tutorial. By the way, have you decided how to coordinate translations here with those on the stable release page? --Nemo 06:04, 29 April 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for the tip, Nemo. But, it wasn't me! ;-) Here is what I added to the page in this diff. I think that is a part of Reedy's script. Might want to chat with him about it (since you know more about why it isn't a good idea than I; I'd just be parroting you).
- Ok, sorry then. Advice is valid for other pages, then. :p --Nemo 21:01, 30 April 2013 (UTC)

Future releases of MediaWiki
Heiya Greg, with the absence of the still on wiki announced new releases scheduled for today I learned about your ad-hoc announcement. For those of us who are not on the mailinglist and rely on information in wiki it will be very nice if the documentation here will somehow be updated, even if it says that the releases return to an arbitrary schedule. Will there be a dedicated page like WikiReleaseTeam in the future? Thanks and cheers --[[kgh]] (talk) 10:06, 29 January 2015 (UTC) PS My personal hope is that WMF will at least stick to the half-yearly branch-releases and the LTS. This was an outstanding achievement in the past.
- Hi there kgh. Yes, we plan on sticking with the half-yearly major releases and doing the LTSs. Nothing there will really change. The next security release is in progress (everyone involved was busy with WMF All Hands and then MediaWiki Developer Summit these past two weeks). The mediawiki-announce mailing list is the best place to watch for those announcements. Is there a specific wiki page you think should be updated to reflect the changes? I haven't had a chance to do the first pass yet. Greg (WMF) (talk) 17:28, 29 January 2015 (UTC)
- Heiya Greg, thank you for your information. Great to read that my biggest fears will not become reality. :) Well, yes mediawiki-announce is one of the very few mailing lists I actually subscribe to. So I indeed recieve the pre-release as well as the release announcements - no worries here. When it comes to updating pages, there are most prominently the page about specific branches such as e.g. MediaWiki 1.24 which need an update. I guess the WikiReleaseTeam page is still a good place to add general information about how releases are organised. --[[kgh]] (talk) 09:22, 30 January 2015 (UTC)
