Hi, thanks for contacting me but I'm not looking for new projects. Good luck!

Google Translate implement in Minerva Skin

Summary by Sophivorus

Won't fix, use a responsive skin like Vector or Poncho instead of Minerva.

Hello.

I'm Japanese and use Translator.

How do you implement your Googletranslate extension in MediaWiki's Minerva skin?

I have confirmed that it works with the default vector skin.

And I did a lot of research.

I was able to successfully display a feature called Google Translate using javascript in the left menu of the Minerva skin.

However, when I click the menu, the translation function does not work.

My site is expected to be accessed mostly from mobile devices.

Therefore, it is important to have more functionality in the Minerva skin than in the Vector skin.

The Mediawiki I manage is as follows.

gamefanweb.com/ets2/

Please tell me what you, the developer, can understand.

thank you.

regards.

Hi! Unfortunately, the Minerva skin doesn't work like other skins. Because of that, I would need to modify this extensions considerably for it to work in the Minerva skin, and I'm not about to do that, sorry. The only idea I can think of, is that you disable Minerva and use Vector on mobile devices too, or some other responsive skin (like Skin:Poncho). At least that's what we do at the wiki where I work (appropedia.org). Good luck!

Hola Sophivorus.

Hi Sophivorus, I see you've recently rewritten Multilingual Templates and Modules. I noticed it is the only mainspace page in Category:Modules; all others are themselves actually modules. This appears to be a mistake to me, but I wanted to let a local contributor know (rather than removing it myself) as I'm not part of the editing community here. Thanks.

Sophivorus (talkcontribs)

Hi! Yes someone else added the category, but I think we can remove it, and at most leave a link in the category description. I'll do it soon if you dont do it before, cheers!

Hey, there. I left this question on the extension's talk page, too. Is there any chance of getting DisqusTag working today (it hasn't been updated in a while)? I could really use it. I followed directions to install, and I get "We were unable to load Disqus. If you are a moderator please see our troubleshooting guide." I'm running MediaWiki 1.34.0. Thanks.

Sophivorus (talkcontribs)

Hi! Thanks for contacting me, but no, I'm not interested in fixing that extension, especially not today, as I got better things to do. However, I'm a MediaWiki freelancer, so if you want to hire me to do so, I may be able to fix it for USD 50-100, depending on how hard it turns out to be. If you're interested, please contact me via Special:EmailUser/Sophivorus, cheers!

Grlucas (talkcontribs)

Thanks for the response. I would love to donate to keeping this extension viable, but not for a one-time fix. I don't want it to break again after an update. Does that make sense? And how hard could it be, really? Thanks.

Sophivorus (talkcontribs)

Fixing it so that it continues to work in the future would be my goal, but I cannot predict what will change with MediaWiki or Disqus in the future, so I cannot guarantee it won't break someday. Please contact me via Special:EmailUser/Sophivorus or through Upwork if you'd like to move forward. Cheers!

Is there documentation available for Extension:NewsTicker Permissions?

I am getting the following even though I am a member of sysop and admin groups

Permission error

You do not have permission to manage news tickers, for the following reason:

You are not allowed to execute the action you have requested.

Hello! I use AnonPrivacy on MediaWiki 1.34 (last stable) but have 2 problems: 1. conflicts prevents the visual editor from loading 2. new RecentChanges mode (uses JS) isnt work. What to do? Thanks.

Hello, Felipe! You wrote in Manual:Langlinks table that since Wikidata, the langlinks table in Mediawiki no longer keeps accurate track of the actual interlanguage links. But I see that it still works. After somebody updates wikidata element, all langlinks table in all language wikis are also updated. (See my test https://quarry.wmflabs.org/query/42523 and https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Q1734&action=history) Or I spot something wrongly? Maybe it would be better to change Manual:Langlinks table page?

Sophivorus (talkcontribs)

Thanks for reaching out. Maybe the bug was fixed, or maybe I was wrong in the first place. Honestly I no longer remember and can't dig into it right now (sorry), but if you found the issue is no longer there, please trust yourself and correct the documentation! Thanks!
