Proposed deletion

edit

The purpose of this page clearly defined by its title:

Preview/Overview of basic steps to building a MediaWiki wiki

The content is meant to be general and not specific for any one purpose.

  1. Why delete this page?
  2. If the page is too specific then why not make it more broad?
  3. If this page is deleted then I think the link to it on the following page should be removed.

http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Contents#Improving_the_manual

Otherwise, someone else may come along and try to fullfill the stated need only to have their contribution (this page) deleted, again.

Hi and thanks for helping. Unfortunately, the todo you're referring to is an outdated and abandoned attempt, the documentation is not being written according to it. Are you familiar with MediaWiki as a user - why don't you use internal links, for example? Are you familiar with its internals, - for example, do you know that installer has been completely rewritten for the next release? Please understand, I'm not trying to discourage you, but we've got too many unsynchronized installation-related pages, improving existing manual would be much more helpful than adding another item to this mess. I am going to solve this problem, and move this article into user space, where the editor can work on this as he wishes. Adamtheclown 10:51, 12 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
