@Ainali This reminds me of m:Community Wishlist Survey 2022/Archive/Time Machine mode. I know it's been discussed elsewhere over the years, but I can only quickly find this 2022 Enwiki discussion which links to the wishlist item, and this Enwiki 2018 discussion about the topic.

Aha, I found the other main focus of discussion from past years: Extension:Memento (and phab:T36778) and the higher-level phab:T7877 and phab:T2851.

I will read these discussions I didn’t know, but I solved a small part of the general issue with the extension Extension:BackwardsTimeTravel, now archived but it would be possible to restore it to make it work with recent versions of MW; it retrieved the old versions of templates and the values of time variables, it was imho the main (and easiest) points but there are a few others (colour of red/blue links, Common.js/css, software changes, etc). Even if the global problem is "technically infeasible", the rendering of old versions could be nearer than it is today.
