A rough list of potential issues for the dev docs:
Translation edit
Translations: Position of translation bar edit
Should the list of translations go at the top or bottom (or both) of an article? Potential arguments and considerations include:
- translations are often out-of-date
- extra attention may help keep them up-to-date
- extra visibility may mislead readers into thinking that they are current
- translations are most needed by novices (who may not be so wiki-savvy)
- we may be able to encourage translation by:
- making the translation bar visible
- adding a call to action on the translation bar. eg. Help translate this article.
Translations: Necessary? edit
Are manual translations of the dev docs necessary?
- Use an approach like http://translatewiki.net/ and mark sections that shouldn't be translated, then run the rest through a machine translator
- Is not good for languages that don't have a machine translator available.
Translation: Focus on core docs? edit
Should we ask translators to focus on a few key/comprehensive docs?
Developer news and notices edit
Should we add a news/notice header to dev docs?
- Just on the dev hub?
- Just on key pages?
- On all pages?
- Con: Extra clutter
- Pro: Extra visibility
