I have changed the layout for Editpage.php in my own wiki at home. My reason for this is that I needed the functions of the Extended toolbar, which used the mwCustomEditButtons function in Javascript. No matter how much I tried (and I did try, till I was practically crying), I could not get the extra editbar buttons to work. So I decided to have a go at hard coding the extra edit buttons into the Editpage.php - It worked.

I have successfully tested the script which follows on:

Mozilla Firefox (Tested on Version 1.5.0-7)

Opera 7

Konqueror (KDE Standalone Browser)

Epiphany (Gnome Standalone Browser)

IE6 (Tested on XP with Service Pack 2 installed)

and I have found no bugs with the script. All of the buttons work and generate the correct functions.

Just a couple of notes:

1: In order for this script to work, you need to add a few messages to the MediaWiki namespace in your wiki, to cover the wfMsg tooltips which I added to the new buttons. Also, you will need to add the sample text for the Table button to the MediaWiki namespace as Table_sample.

2: The images for the extra buttons have been added to /skins/common/images, since as they are hard coded in, they are now common images to all skins.
