I've left a long comment at the bottom of Phabricator task T207705 on what might be key remaining tasks to get wikidata and the wdqs sparql service to successfully use and output EDTF dates (hoping that the WMDE development team might take it up).

Given that you have been the driving force behind the Wikibase_EDTF extension, I would very much welcome any thoughts or comments.
