My goodness, this talk page system is poor. Not even a locatable preview button for doing things like checking that I got an interwiki hyperlink right.

Uncle G, I believe that you want to look inside the editing window for the sentence that says "Wikitext uses markup and you can preview the result anytime."
I am looking at this edit field right now, and there is no such sentence. There are "By saving changes", and Cancel and Reply buttons. That's it.
If you are in the visual mode, then your link displays as blue and can be clicked to open in another tab.
If you are in the wikitext mode, then that sentence appears inside the box, above the mini-toolbar. It should be above the bits that look approximately like this:
If you don't see any buttons that look like that, then please let me know whether you have Javascript disabled.
