Restore 'Watchlist' to the sidebar and don't discontinue the classic mod

I was a heavy mobile editor (some 20K mobile edits), although I now mostly use PC I still use mobile and this AMC is really awesome. Some features I craved for are now readily available. But I am not sure why "Watchlist" was removed from the sidebar. I click it more than any other mobile interface link and in fact, I couldn't imagine removing it from where it's on the desktop web. Because every editor just expect it to be readily there.

Please restore it or explain why you find it unimportant. For comparison, I never clicked "Nearby" (well, except now to just see what the heck it's. Not mention I did not find it useful).

Another thing is I hope at the end of this project the classic mobile mode should not be discontinued, even though this is an improvement I find the former's simplicity and absence of clutter extremely important, especially if we consider how people access this site with variety of phone models (as well as screen size, data speed and whatnot factors) that may make the AMC mode cumbersome to work with.

Much thanks to the team working on this.

@Ammarpad: Not removed, now it's under that user icon on top right corner.

Well, you're right. It was not removed but hidden. It should be restored to where it was. It is that Random or Nearby link that should be hidden. It seems to me, this is an attempt to make parity with the desktop web, but other factors should be considered too. No need for absolute parity in the first place and the sidebar menu is actually more equivalent of desktop personal links than that user icon; although superficially it could appear otherwise. I will reiterate the call that our Watchlist link should be restored to the sidebar.

Could you tell us clearly why you want the watchlist link in the sidebar? To be honest, when I was trying out this mode for the first time on Japanese Wikipedia, I was having trouble accessing the watchlist and other links that were on the sidebar. But now I got used to it. In my opinion, it's just something you will need to get used to. I see no harm in keeping those links there.

I am not sure what else you want to me to say. I've already explain why. It's you who should explain why you're "having trouble accessing" Watchlist in the sidebar and how you're not having the same trouble with the current links there.

It's just I wasn't used to this new interface back then. IMO, it doesn't really matter where the link is, as long as they are easily accessible, I am okay with anything.

I agree with Ammar on that simplicity part; contributions, article history and recent changes were few pages I loved in mobile mode, but they also lacked some important features. New mode have those features but simplicity is gone.

Ainz Ooal Gown (talkcontribs)

Well yeah. It have those features. And that's why it's simplicity is gone. It should not be a problem because AMC mode was created to improve both user and editor experience. During the testing period on 7 wikipedias, there was over 80 percent retention rate. This means that most people don't turn off the AMC mode once they activate it. This implicitly shows how much they loved this mode.
