The FLOSS community has been bitten over and over again (sourceforge, bitkeeper, google code, now probably travis...) by "free as in beer" solutions that we had no control over, and which caused a huge problem of vendor lock-in and transition to greener pastures.
If the principle of free knowledge doesn't hold (and I think it should) we should at least do choose free software for the practical reasons I stated above.
