It seems that this list module returns page ids as strings instead of numbers:

{"pageid":"11884","ns":0,"title":"German language","iwprefix":"de","iwtitle":""}

(from a request to English Wikipedia). Other list modules seem to always return numbers for pageid, e.g. imageusage:

{"pageid":47945,"ns":0,"title":"Madhya Pradesh"}

You're right. I don't see anything obvious in the code that would cause that, but I'm not really a PHP programmer. I've filed a bug report here. That's the place to go to report anything like this that you might find in the future.
