In a recent edit of , it appears that VE replaced many named references with something else. For example, it replaced

.<ref name="Randall1947" />

with

<ref name="Randall19472"><cite class="citation book">[[James G. Randall|Randall, James Garfield]] (1962). [https://books.google.com/books?id=DHUqAAAAYAAJ ''Lincoln: The Liberal Statesman'']. Dodd, Mead. [[Amazon Standard Identification Number|ASIN]] [//www.amazon.com/dp/B0051VUQXO B0051VUQXO].</cite></ref>

Apologize if the error attribution is wrong, but I have never seen this syntax before. Here is the diff:

Ouch. Thanks for the note. I'm not sure what happened, but I'll tell the devs. One of the changes – <ref name=White /> to <ref name=White2 /> – sounds suspiciously similar to an old bug.

Did you do anything unusual/difficult/extensive in this edit?

Nothing aberrant that I can think of.
