i get large images in place of thumbnails

thumbnails stopped working after some change in server software. possibly php version changed. thumbnails worked fine before that. i got 777 on images folder. what can be the cause?

... and i get "Error creating thumbnail: sh: /usr/local/bin/convert: No such file or directory"
