Hello! Very interesting proposal. It feels related to an ongoing project: Mobile design/Uploads. I am pinging the people working on this to make sure you can all sync thoughts and efforts. Most of the people working on this feature are actually based in San Francisco. The next Wikipedia Engineering Meetup would be a good occasion to meet and chat (latest).

Thanks! I've connected with Maryana from the foundation to cross-share. Looks like theres no current intiative for a desktop feature but definitely the mobile work lends itself to web and they've mad a lot of great progress defining an optimal upload flow.
