Why is this template a table, a block level element? Could it be written instead as an inline element? That way it could also be used as an inline link if authors wanted to use it that way. I would like that better. Or even better, why not have the meta logo automatically show up on all interwiki links to meta here on mediawiki.org by coding it into metawiki.org's sitewide CSS? --Rogerhc 04:59, 8 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Changing to be an inline element might be a good idea. Try it! Make the change, and then use 'what links here' to check that all current pages that use the template work correctly. If not then revert it (or fix the individual pages if they are in the minority). One thing to note, using this block-level version in a bulleted list means that the bullet is replaced by the meta logo, which will look better than if the bullet was there as well. -- HappyDog 16:16, 8 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
Actually, I think having a logo instead of a bullet inside a bulleted list disturbs the format of the list. I would prefer regular interwiki links. Anyway, whether info is on this site or on Meta is somewhat arbitrary at the moment; the distinction is clear from the distinction between an internal link and an interwiki link; there does not seem a need to emphasize the distinction further.--Patrick 12:33, 20 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
... and please try it in your sandbox first please. --:Bdk: 23:58, 8 September 2006 (UTC) Reply

My apologies.

edit

I am learning wiki markup, I accidently erased this entry. I put it back. Again, I apologize.

Removed from Help: pages

edit

I'm removing this template from all of the public domain pages in the Help: namespace because:

  1. "meta" is not one of the default interwiki entries in a new Mediawiki installation; anyone importing the PD help pages will therefore see red links
  2. the WMF's logo is copyright and usage is subject to strict guidelines. It is not appropriate to encourage wiki webmasters to install copies of the WMF logo willy-nilly.
  3. the Help pages should be self-supporting; if the content at meta is better the solution is to improve the content here!

Return to "Meta" page.
