We're talking about mobile apps here, right? iOS and Android? Just wanted to be sure.

Right. Dunno how the mobile browser works, I usually use the app on my phone.

I was beginning to add something about this as well. The app makes it very easy to see that one can edit an article, but there are no instructions and I can imagine that, for someone who has only ever read Wikipedia and who uses other apps, that the markup would be very jarring. From that perspective I would suggest some simple suggestions around best practices for editing, and to make VE the default editor in the app.
