Page Previews solves the core problem of users opening multiple tabs to gain an understanding of a word in the context of the subject they are reading. Whenever a reader hovers over a link to another article, a short summary of the subject, including its graphical image, is provided to them so they can decide whether they need to visit that subject more fully before continuing the current subject.

I've found something interesting Page Previews. In enwiki, typing [[Bion of Smyrna]] in wikitext will make Page Previews render Wilfred Bion's intro. WhatLinksHere for both pages shows no similar redirects!
Can someone confirm?: w:User:Eduardogobi/sandbox ~ Eduardogobi (talk) 21:08, 2 January 2022 (UTC)
- weird.. I made a null edit to the page and that seems to have fixed it... —TheDJ (Not WMF) (talk • contribs) 09:28, 3 January 2022 (UTC)
- Indeed, it is now showing the correct text :) Eduardogobi (talk) 17:56, 3 January 2022 (UTC)
Leading space before parentheses
editIs it possible to omit leading spaces before an (omitted) parenthesis? At the moment, the space is left in, leading to a format like in Sailor_Moon_(character), where commas have spaces preceding them where the parentheticals were.
Additionally, removal of certain templates results in double commas, as at J._K._Rowling, though this seems like less of an easy fix. HTGS (talk) 02:39, 6 April 2022 (UTC)
Wikipedia main page preview
editWhen there is an internal link to Wikipedia that links to the main page, the following Page Preview pops up:
I'm not sure if this is expected behavior but I feel it could be replaced with something more friendly to a user, like "The Wikipedia main page". Urban Versis 32 (talk) 17:01, 18 June 2022 (UTC)
Is there a way to control the page preview image when editing Wikipedia?
editThe page preview for a page I'm editing auto selects an image that is not the ideal one for the preview. Is there a way to control which image is selected for the page preview? AllAmericanBreakfast (talk) 01:24, 2 July 2022 (UTC)
- Hi. Yup, there are some docs at Extension:PageImages#Can I exclude certain page images? which should help. –Quiddity (talk) 05:52, 2 July 2022 (UTC)

- 1.: If you hover over "Iepure ryukyu ", the popup appears. If you hover over "(P. furnessi)", there is no popup.
- 2.: If you hover over "Iepure ryukyu (P. furnessi)", there is no popup.
- 3 & 4: If you hover over "Iepure ryukyu (P. furnessi)" or "Iepure ryukyu (P. furnessi)", the popup appears. No problem here. --Paloi Sciurala (talk|contribs) 22:39, 9 December 2022 (UTC)
- Note: When I went to the link and tried them, some entries did not generate popups. However when I went back over them second time to more carefully examine which did or did not work, they all worked.
- Speculation: Either there was an issue with some of them being slow and we just abandoned the hover before it could come through, or hovering a later version somehow fixed the earlier one. A wild speculation, but is it possible that hovering a later link generated a cache-hit which incidentally fixed a link that - in isolation - didn't work? Alsee (talk) 12:53, 15 December 2022 (UTC)
- As of 11 February 2023, the bug still persists. --Paloi Sciurala (talk|contribs) 23:46, 10 February 2023 (UTC)
