Timing of release and release notes

I would humbly suggest getting the release out if and only when the release notes are all done and ready to be published as well. And I think it used to be that way until recently. Rebastion2 (talk) 14:44, 1 July 2023 (UTC)

The associated page with the release notes, extracted from the file RELEASE-NOTES-1.40, was wikified since. I transcluded some parts of the release notes to make the main page MediaWiki 1.40 less empty and with a content similar to previous MW versions.

At the contrary of previous versions, it’s not translatable like this but perhaps it would be better to make the release notes directly translatable? It would be a lot of work, but translators could focus on the transcluded parts presented in the main page. Any thoughts? ~ Seb35 [^_^] 19:09, 28 February 2024 (UTC)

Renameuser extension

It is stated "The RenameUser extension has been merged into MediaWiki core. If you have it installed, you should uninstall it."

Does it mean that I shall delete folder in the extensions category and/or delete wfLoadExtension ('Renameuser') in LocalSettings.php? Fokebox (talk) 09:52, 10 July 2023 (UTC)

Yes, first you can remove wfLoadExtension ('Renameuser'); and following that you can also delete the "Renameuser" folder in your extensions directory. [[kgh]] (talk) 10:56, 10 July 2023 (UTC)
