Talk:How to become a MediaWiki hacker/Extension Writing Tutorial

This doesn't work at all in Windows 7. Special:Example is not found, and no error are printed out. I'll spend some more time trying to figure out why this doesn't work. I copied all the files from examples\Example\ on the SVN trunk, but none of them work so far.

Nevermind

edit

I was updating the wrong directory. I apologize for the confusion.

The tutorial is outdated

edit

Point number 2 in this section reads "Modify the 'execute' method in Example.body.php to print out 'hello world!':". However, there is no such file in the cloned repository.

I found the file instead at the svn repository.

The tutorial needs to be updated soon. BPositive (talk) 13:41, 20 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

I think I've fixed it. --Ciencia Al Poder (talk) 13:31, 18 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
There were several remaining references to Example.body.php which I replaced with SpecialHelloWorld.php as well as updating the i18n sections to be appropriate for the new JSON format. Psoplayer (talk) 16:37, 12 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Still outdated. --Temptuousinsolence (talk) 15:38, 26 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Temptuousinsolence: Thanks for checking. If it's still outdated it would be very helpful to mention which parts are outdated. :) --AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 15:54, 26 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
