it works very incorrectly
Talk:Content translation
Hi there,
I am an extended confirmed user on wp:en and want to translate an article to wp:fr. I already used the tool multiple times, but today, it doesn't seem to work: the generated interface is displayed in blank with the sole "On the English Wikipedia this tool is limited to extended confirmed editors, and the machine translation component is disabled for all users (see WP:CXT)." message.
Is there anything going on?
Thanks.
@UOzurumba (WMF) Hello, I'm a member from Vietnamese wikipedia. I'm specialized in translating contents from English to Vietnamese on Vietnamese wikipedia. Recently, I've opened the content translation. Then I found out there were no page available on translating column. I wondered what had happened with translating column? And how this issue will be fixed. Thanks!!
Ciao, ogni volta che modifico anche un solo carattere nella parte tradotta mi rimanda nella parte da tradurre
Grazie
La pàgina m'apareix en blanc. Què puc fer?
Just lost some hours of work because it didn't save and dosen't have a save button.
Very sad.
@GabrielRF12 Hello, thanks for flagging the issue. Could you please provide more detail:
- Which article were you translating and to which language
- Which browser did you use (Firefox, Chrome, Microsoft Internet Explorer, Safari, Opera, etc.)
- Screenshot of the error that display.
- If you're getting any errors, please provide log from browser console if possible. To open browser console: press Ctrl+Shift+j (or cmd+alt+J () on a Mac).
Hello, here is some info about: Iam using google chrome Translating the "Melbourne Cup" english to portuguese. I search several times and there is no save button, the article saves automatically, but it didn't save anymore and I lost hours of work. But I will never use the translation tool here in wikipedia, rather use other forms of translation.
@GabrielRF12, sorry about this issue; I have reported it in this phabricator ticket.
I appreciate your patience.
Sometimes, when I am trying to publish an article (happened 2 times already for example on antisocial personality disorder from English to Romanian), the page just says "Saving..." continuously and doesn't save my hours of work I just put in writing the content at all. The tool just glitches out after I finish all the sections (+References and External Links/Formats). I can't do anything except leaving the page and erasing the content.
This really stressed me out as it wasted my time. I think it happens randomly, on pages that might be large.
This happened on both Chrome and Brave.
On Edge as well.

Hejaz vilayet from English to Czech on Edge.
@Wikiminds34 and @Herigona,
Sorry about this issue you are experiencing. I have reported it in this phabricator ticket.
I appreciate your patience.
OK. I have already managed to publish the article in a different way.
hello It would be helpful:
1. Do not translate content between <ref> tags
Two bugs:
1. If the whole page is not translated sometimes the formulas are misplaced.
2. some fields inside the <ref> tag disappear
Thank you Andresv.63, for reporting this. Please confirm whether this issue is still happening. If it is, can you provide the following information:
- Which article were you translating, and to which language
- Which browser did you use (Firefox, Chrome, Microsoft Internet Explorer, Safari, Opera, etc.)
- If you're getting any errors, please provide the log from the browser console. Press Ctrl+Shift+j (or cmd+alt+J () on a Mac) to open the browser console
Hello, @UOzurumba (WMF)
Articles with problems in formulas: Equilateral triangle, rotation (mathematics), kernel (algebra). Translated to galician.
Browser: Chrome
Option of translator: Google translate
The problem with <ref> label is almost all translated articles.
Hello @UOzurumba (WMF), at this very moment I entered a saved partial translation of "P-adic number" and it has several formulas out of place.
Hello @UOzurumba (WMF), I will include the errors that occurred when translating page "Neighbourhood system" from English to Galician:
- <em> tag does not translate it and stops translating the rest of the paragraph
- in the <ref> tag it does not include the "title" field (it sometimes does not include other fields). as the Galician wiki understands <ref> with fields in English it would be useful not to touch anything that is between <ref> tags
- When <ref> tag has a name is dupplicated and shows an error of tag with same name and repeated content.
- internal links between wiki pages when they exist in galician leave the name of the link (internal) correctly but mistranslate the name that appears in the text (it should be the same as the internal). When they don't exist in galician, the external name is often fine, but the internal one leaves it in English (it should be the same as the external one)
- when a page deals with a subject covered by the title the title word is repeated many times. It would be helpful to use the same word as the title in the translations
Thanks @Andresv.63
Hello @Andresv.63,
Sorry about this issue you are having. I have reported it in this phabricator ticket.
I appreciate your patience.
It says that the translation is based on a old version, but it's not. When I send it, it says "Publishing..." and not publish it.
