Talk:Archived Pages
Thank you for this page (mentioned at m:Talk:WebCite#Proposal superseded)! Your service is truly awesome; I already asked on your blog, but maybe someone else knows too: are you also crawling links added to non-English Wikipedias? On your three proposals:
- External links icons would need some discussion, so I sent a link on a couple mailing lists to start with: mailarchive:wikitech-l/2013-October/072781.html.
- Bots: not hard to get consensus for those and run them on all languages, at least those using templates similar to en.wiki's. Some also say it's not hard to code.
- Access date: this would probably best added to reflinks.py (originally run as w:en:User:DumZiBoT/refLinks, but also by other bots on other wikis, see last such edit on it, pl, hu, ko, fa, es, ru, de, zh, nl, fr), which works also (only?) for links/wikis without citation templates.

- Oddly, I found this here of all places. Sorry to hear of the fire, I hope you're up and running again soon. It's one more example of why scanning and digital archiving is so necessary. LeadSongDog (talk) 04:47, 8 November 2013 (UTC)
Previous work
editThe WMF and the Internet Archive previously worked together in 2011 on this isssue for the Extension:ArchiveLinks project, which is now archived. There may be some useful information in the related pages and subpages. 64.40.54.184 20:06, 14 December 2013 (UTC)

Non-English wikis
editToday I checked a random it.wiki and fi.wiki new article and I see links in it were crawled by Wayback within two days: it's certainly not a coincidence. IA is probably crawling our external links on main namespace (not the rest, I checked) for several big Wikimedia wikis. Not all of them, for instance not mt.wiki. Fantastic news anyway! --Nemo 09:31, 25 June 2014 (UTC)

editAs a start, I nudged en.wiki bot owners.[1] --Nemo 09:03, 1 October 2014 (UTC)
What's the actual status of this?
editAny idea about what happened to this? If progress has been done, it would be nice if someone updated the page. Timofonic (talk) 12:48, 19 July 2017 (UTC)
- What is "this"? Have you followed the links? A recent update is translatewiki:Translating:InternetArchiveBot, most activity is nowadays on phabricator:project/view/2160/. --Nemo 11:31, 23 July 2017 (UTC)
