I'm really excited to learn about this project. Is there any way I can help? Maybe as a mentor - suggesting tasks to work on and helping review them? Please let me know :) Jdlrobson (talk) 22:09, 31 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Yes @Jdlrobson, you can read all about the project on this our mediawiki page and also here is our phabricator work board: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/tag/africa-wikimedia-developers/. You can add tasks under the column "Featured Tasks" and I will ping you later today in the evening on IRC for us to chat more :). Thanks X-Savitar (talk) 07:33, 1 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hello everyone,

My name is Mercy Akinkuotu, I am a student from a tertiary university in Nigeria. I started editing Wikipedia pages late last year. During this period i learnt a lot of things about wikimedia, I got to know about Outreachy and GSoC. I contacted Teke Noelle, she was so helpful, she mention joining Africa Wikimedia Developers.

I just finished my Student industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES)(July- Dec 2017),where i worked with CakePHP, JavaScript and Bootstrap.Although I learnt a lot during this period but i can't particularly say i learnt enough.

I am still in the process of becoming a developer but i NEED HELP! I plan on participating in GSoC 2018 /Outreachy round 16. I am planning on working on the Cargo Extension.I have install mediawiki,Cargo and ReplaceText Extensions. I am still study the flow of the project altogether but it is looking like a foreign language, i really need HELP with it.

Also i would love to join the mailing list, i tried but i keep getting "You must GET the form before submitting it.".

I look forward to learning more, gaining more experience and contributing to opensource. Thanks

P.S: Please don't mind my long epistle,Thank you, Merci beaucuop. AkinkuotuFunmi (talk) 20:35, 16 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Would it help the project if this page and its subpages were translatable? If it would, I'd like to help by preparing the pages for translation. Thanks:) Jeropbrenda (talk) 18:24, 2 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

@X-Savitar ping Jeropbrenda (talk) 10:11, 3 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Jeropbrenda, yes, you can go ahead and prepare the page. Thanks a lot for your contributions. Feel free and revert in case of any questions. :) X-Savitar (talk) 19:02, 3 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
@X-Savitar I prepared the page and it has been marked for translation, although it has undergone some heavy editing from Shirayuki. Jeropbrenda (talk) 11:54, 6 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
Yeah @Jeropbrenda, @Shirayuki is the expert when it comes to that. Follow his advices :). Thanks for your work! X-Savitar (talk) 12:27, 6 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
@X-Savitar sorry for re-opening this but I didn't know where else to inform you of the progress since the discussion started here.
All the subpages are now translatable as well and I've started translations to Swahili. Jeropbrenda (talk) 12:27, 9 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
