"It may not be more than 235 characters long
" - That should be bytes not characters (There's a rather significant difference in some scripts) Bawolff (talk) 18:12, 7 August 2012 (UTC)

Future
editThe checks described in "feature" could reduce the need of pre-emptive warnings by showing more warnings/policy reminders/suggestions only when required, if:
- they're entirely configurable by the wiki with some MediaWiki messages;
- they're shown immediately while choosing a username, for instance together with the (AJAXy) availability checks.
Not all warnings can be replaced, though: for instance the "no websites as usernames" policy is very strictly (even unreasonably) applied on some wikis like it.wiki, and perhaps MediaWiki could perform a domain lookup to check if names looking like domains are registered as such, but surely it can't have a comprehensive list of companies. Some space for custom warnings/notes will therefore always be needed and taken. --Nemo 12:00, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
