Reading/Multimedia/Standup notes/2016/October
Standup notes are now being archived in public - we won't *announce* them, but they're being stored somewhere that is visible. Just a heads up.
Affirmative response to archiving past standup notes was lackluster, so I won't be moving them at first. Mark may try to get consensus at the offsite.
Traveling this Thursday to attend WikiConference USA - will return home Tuesday evening, likely to collapse in a heap for a day or so.
I think I need to review Prateek's patch for FA, but after that, FA goals are met once the security review goes through and we push to the Beta Cluster.
FA editing interface improvements likely to shortly follow the offsite.
I'd like to start thinking about file curation tools, likely in the form of gadgets or bots at first.
From last week: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T143192 still needs comment (ping James, Prateek)
Working on adding "previous" buttons throughout UW upload flow
Looking at e-mail
Also going to WikiConference USA
I didn't accomplish much yesterday. Today will likely be more mostly-aimless searching through Phabricator.
Breaking up "previous buttons" into multiple smaller patches
Travelling for WikiConference tomorrow, will not be at the standup (or will be on the train), so someone else needs to take notes and archive them.
Worked on existing patches (rebase, fix, feedback)
Reading up on how people patrol uploads on commons
Catching up on email after being unwell last week
Need review on
Thinking of not attending AllHands & DevSummit in Jan. Any thoughts?
Fixed UW warning dialog regression (showed up for successful uploads)
Working on "back" button (most importantly: making "upload" 2 steps, instead of going back to file selection immediately)
Back from WikiConference
People talked about 3D and video files
Brion working on video.js BetaFeature
Working on gallery issues as pointed out in T143192
Some OOUI stuff
Working on "back" button (most importantly: making "upload" 2 steps, instead of going back to file selection immediately)
Offsite: Next week! I hope everyone is ready.
Quarterly review also next week.
I return from WikiConference North America!
Today: Likely looking into video/audio annotations
If that seems too complex, maybe annotation editing interface changes
Note: We're into Q2 now, and our security review has not happened yet. We may not "hit" our goal of deploying FA to the beta cluster.
Still looking at GallerySlideshow issues
Prateek (not attending)
edit
Travel prep - currency exchange, bank and boring stuff
Sorry James T130434
Mark (barely attending)
edit
Woke up on the wrong side of the bed
Going to try to rest before Trip Number Three
Since I worked throughout the three-day weekend, I assume this is achievable.
Refactor nw.UploadWizard - trying to rip out this.uploads & upload handling
Reading up on Commons patrolling, policies, tools, processes, ...
Review UW code
Looking at thumbnailing issue
Entire team was at an off-site event. No standups were held.
QR looks like it's...at a weird time. Should confirm.
Woke up way too early
Security review response underway - could use CR
Slept well
Will CR FA stuff
Vagrant is borked
Flow review
Remove per-upload stuff from UW global object
Not much work yesterday, too tired. Today looks a little better.
Will be looking into more security review fixes.
Review WIP patch
Vagrant reinstall
Improved "back" patch for UW
Yesterday was still bad for productivity, but I'm getting back on the horse today, because I got eight hours of sleep.
FA security fixes merged, so we could probably push things out...there were low-severity things that I didn't think were applicable and we can probably steamroll
Nobody else came
Little more work to do on non-security improvements for FA.
Pulling stuff out of UW object, into the controllers/ui
Small things to fix in back button patch
Fixing things around "back" button
Working from the east coast
Not much affecting MM right now
CR today
E-mail travel stuff catch-up
FA review 50-75% done, waiting for CR
Not much else happening, looking for things to do
