Happy new year! I am attempting to obtain the sysop flag after my previous request was withdrawn as pretty immature (criticism about hat collecting). I have been committed to this wiki five months ago and have since tagged lots of pages for deletion, and reverting unconstructive edits. The delete, block, and more importantly rollback rights will be very useful to delete pages, block vandals, and use rollback to revert edits instead of the slower TwinkleGlobal and manual undo functions.

I have also helped in the transition of Flow talk pages to wikitext ahead of the planned script run; suppressredirect would have been helpful when moving pages instead of leaving redirects that eventually get deleted.

I should admit that I am not the best candidate, but I hope you will all agree with me. ToadetteEdit (talk) 10:06, 1 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

  • Sigh, I said 6 months last time, and you were improving in the last few months. This isn't even three months. Please listen Toadette - we're trying to get you out of the hat-collecting pit and you're doing the opposite. Leaderboard (talk) 10:41, 1 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I've cooled off a bit. I think waiting three more months is okay, but I still want to avoid the hat-collector term being used on me. I have a need for the tools, and I will wear them after obtaining them, rather than collecting hats for no reason. ToadetteEdit (talk) 12:22, 1 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Then you need to wait. Time is a very powerful healer and equaliser in things like these. Leaderboard (talk) 09:04, 2 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Why would I have to wait for such a short time; people will still vote against me even after years, because they do not want me to hold these rights, even though I will never abuse them, and already have experience. Anyways, I will be patient though and hopefully I will succeed. ToadetteEdit (talk) 17:26, 6 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@ToadetteEdit It's an exponential decrease function. While the hat-collecting anti-bias is not something I necessarily agree with, the advice I gave is because of my experience seeing other voters react to a hat-collector. Unfortunately, you've crossed the limit beyond which the average person would immediately discard your application citing "hat-collecting", irrespective of whether you are actually hat-collecting or not, and as you saw on Meta a week back, even well-established users can unexpectedly be caught in that pit. For that person I wouldn't recommend waiting for 6 months - a couple of months would be enough. Unfortunately you're worse there, and I recall that you failed an en.wiki rights application not long before filing this application. Hence the 6+ months recommendation
What we don't want you to do is just rage-quit, but if you continue to file applications without taking a break, the most likely scenario is that you'll feel demotivated and give up. Leaderboard (talk) 03:09, 8 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Well... I will wait for six months as you suggested. I am in fear though that there is a certain group of editors that will vote against me in every request regardless, but this approach will hopefully reduce the chances. I will delist the nomination and rethink of myself. I will of course increase my experience that will supersede the current situation, and hopefully I will pass soon. Good luck! •   Oppose * Pppery * it has begun 16:26, 1 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
    Why? ToadetteEdit (talk) 16:20, 6 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  •   Oppose it's been just over 2 1/2 months since the last failed RFA, where many concerns about hat collecting were brought up. in this situation, please consider leaderboard's advice and give this time. Ternera (talk) 14:57, 6 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • Formally marking this as  N Not done, while agreeing with the opposers. @ToadetteEdit: Another cause for concern is that you are reverting translation edits in languages I do not think you can read. While I can't read Arabic myself and thus can't ascertain the validity of your revert, that also means doing so is likely to revert legitimate translation edits. This is not what I want to see from an administrator on a multilingual wiki like this one.--Jasper Deng (talk) 11:19, 13 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Jasper Deng, please note that my revert linked in your comment is valid, because "حسابك" means "your account" and not "حساب" which means "account". Furthermore, the ip edit was unconstructive. I will ofcourse pay attention when patrolling edits in unfamiliar languages. ToadetteEdit (talk) 19:56, 13 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
