Reduce line-height

edit

Fonts on mobile are (generally) much controlled, and overall better than on the desktop. Superfluous control over line spacing is unneeded and undesirable.

Wikipedia Mobile has a high line spacing, and on a small screen almost always requires a significant amount of scrolling. Reducing line spacing (in particular, leaving line spacing at the default) would make reading easier (font's built-in line spacing is already adequate) and require the user to scroll less. Thanks for the idea. We'll have to play with this after the launch to see how it looks. Tfinc 22:58, 20 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestions

edit

I have the following suggestions.

  • accesskeys for navigation on older devices.
Do you mean navigation using the actual buttons on the phone ? Tfinc 22:57, 20 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • contents list for browsers without touch jquery show/hide
Can you send a mock up our way. I'd love to see how your visualizing this. Tfinc 23:08, 20 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Since we are already using WURFL, we should have the width of the device's screen. We should make thumbs of 'default' size just below the width of the screen. For screensizes over 300px wide, we should probably have 'half screen width' thumbnails that are inline floated.
This will take some experimenting to figure out.
  • Collapsed infoboxes and tables, that show upon clicking them. (This is one of the features of the Articles app that i like a lot). —The preceding unsigned comment was added by TheDJ (talkcontribs) . Please sign your posts with ~~~~!

Editing from phone

edit

It's a shame that there isn't a way to edit directly from the phone in the mobile interface without having to switch to the default interface (where it's possible to edit on an iPhone, as this message is showing), but it's a little tricky due to the layout, clutter and size of the boxes... Totally, take a look at my comments above and join in on the discussion about contributions on mobile. Tfinc 17:26, 7 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

metadata

edit

Hi there!

Could you change the array $itemsToRemoves entry 'table.metadata' to 'metadata'? In de.wp we're using metadata also for single columns in tables, ie here. Metadata I think should not be represented in general in mobile view.... Greets --AleXXw 07:53, 1 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

homepage

edit

When I clicked on the tinyurl, I was sent to the main page of regular EN-WP. When I clicked on an article page, I then got redirected to the article on the mobile site. Not sure if this is what is intended. Barry Newstead (not logged in, sorry)
