interwiki transclusion?

edit

Added: Ah, I see in DefaultSettings.php that it has something to do with what's amusingly called $wgEnableScaryTranscluding. Whatever "transclusion" means. From the look of the code (and mind me, I don't know PHP at all), it might allow the inclusion of templates from other wikis when set to 1? Again, just a guess, and might be no better than my "translation" guess was.
Yes, precisely. Both $wgEnableScaryTranscluding and iw_trans need to be on.

Does this mean interwiki transclusion is possible? I've set $wgEnableScaryTranscluding to true and iw_trans to 1 for a couple of wikis, but I haven't managed it yet.
Any help would be appreciated!

Reasons why it's called that. --Anime Addict AA 23:40, 21 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Why are there 174 default entries for this table!?!

edit

Holy crap! There are 174 default entries, and yet en.wikipedia.org is not one of them? What is going one here? Who maintains this list? Where is it maintained?

Some of the links in the table just look like link spam, others aren't wiki links at all! An Acronym Finder search? A Google Cache link? Even broken links (http://docbook.org/wiki/moin.cgi/$1)! Are you serious? Some serious gardening needs to be done here. It makes sense to have the Wikimedia foundation projects listed (Especially Wikipedia!), but these others have got to go. --wikipedia:User:Matt B. (71.57.32.65 18:51, 10 March 2007 (UTC))Reply

I'm now getting rid of all the spammy entries in my MediaWiki site's table. My favorite link so far? gmailwiki. Absolutely ridiculous! --wikipedia:User:Matt B. (71.57.32.65 19:13, 10 March 2007 (UTC))Reply
I believe all of these links are in the Interwiki map. I don't know if the default installation script populates the local table from a certain revision of the table. Titoxd(?!?) 02:55, 12 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
Looks like they've pared it down some. If you want to have it populate it from the map, you need Extension:InterwikiMap (assuming it still works). Leucosticte (talk) 18:59, 11 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
Initially the table should be empty and anyone who wants it filled should have an option within the installation script. Having all those default entries without being asked is somewhat irritating. --Alzi24 (talk) 10:17, 10 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

iw_url as blob

edit

In Version 1.11.0 (or earlier, but after 1.10.0) in that table the colum iw_url changes from CHAR(127) to BLOB - here the svn-diff --85.178.93.164 13:10, 25 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Forward?

edit

On Special:Interwiki I can add a forward flag, but it is not described here. Can somebody clear that up? Tony Mach (talk) 11:39, 11 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

That corresponds to Manual:Interwiki_table#iw_local. Leucosticte (talk) 11:48, 11 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
