Citations in figure captions

Hi all, very good extension overall. The issues I'm having is about adding inline citation to a figure caption. For example:

[[Image:Shoulejkin_1923_fig03.jpg|frame|border|400px|Components of the water system exitant radiance, by Was. Shoulejkin (1923)[[Citation reference::Shoulejkin1923a]].]]

will not work appropriately, while:

<gallery> Image:Shoulejkin_1923_fig03.jpg|Components of the water system exitant radiance, by Was. Shoulejkin (1923)[[Citation reference::Shoulejkin1923a]]. </gallery>

will work fine, though loosing the control over the image presentation (size, position, etc).

Is there a work around?
