Changed status and apologies for poor maintenance here
editI didn't keep the public GitHub up to date but we've actually been using this on a variety of versions long after the 1.8.3 mentioned in the last version of the page while maintaining changes on a university closed GitHub. We recently changed over to the wfLoadExtension system and are running on MW1.31 as of this edit. I wasn't sure what the status options were and thought that since we've been using it for many years on multiple wikis and multiple versions, stable was closer than beta or unmaintained.
Many years ago, when I asked the Cite developers to add the hook, it was suggested that there is a better way to do this without patching Cite itself, but I haven't investigated how that would work.

- Other maintenance that needed to be done at some point includes replacing use of the legacy Revision class (Manual:Revision.php/Migration). * Pppery * it has begun 19:58, 13 July 2024 (UTC)
