Difference from Replace Text? edit

How is this different from Extension:Replace Text? --Jamesmontalvo3 (talk) 03:54, 28 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

If you set $wgCompressRevisions = true; this extension will continue to work. The Replace Text extension will however cease operations. --kgh (talk) 10:21, 20 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

Fatal error: Call to undefined method getTitle() edit

Hello. I seem to have run into an issue. Firstly, here is my Mediawiki info:

MediaWiki 1.22.0
PHP 5.3.13 (cgi-fcgi)
MySQL 5.5.32-log

I tried to install the latest version of the extension ( https://github.com/wikimedia/mediawiki-extensions-MassEditRegex )
Upon uploading the new Local Settings, the pages on my wiki do not render and I get this instead:
Fatal error: Call to undefined method StrappingTemplate::getTitle() in /hermes/waloraweb082/b2665/moo.iamshikiracom/Crea_wiki/wiki/extensions/MassEditRegex/MassEditRegex.class.php on line 549

I know that recently some new changes were committed right? Switching out the $wgtitle with the getTitle() method. Am I missing something in my skin that produces this error?

MW 1.23.0 edit

After updating to MediaWIki 1.23.0, an error occurs: PHP message: PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined method VectorTemplate::getTitle() in (...)/extensions/MassEditRegex/MassEditRegex.class.php on line 549

r6 does not works with 1.23.0. It looks like old r5 and r4 do. I guess the "REL1_23" were generated by software without human test. --Zoglun (talk) 22:04, 15 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

This breaks the toolbox+ other stuff on Mediawiki 1.24 edit

It breaks most of the Vector skin in 1.24. Replace text appears to do the same thing as this one but without these issues.

Hint on Search wanted edit

Using the the extension, I would like to add a category to all *.jpg files in the file namespace.

Does someone have a hint for me, how to make the search work?

Thank you for your attention -- Bernd M. (talk) 06:57, 7 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Editing Error edit

Hello,

We're getting the following error whenever we try to edit any pages:

Edit failed:
* (Pagename) does not exist

This happens regardless of what is entered for the search/replace text. The extension was installed months ago on version 8.0.2 and worked perfectly with no errors; we've only noticed the error recently, and we see it on both 8.0.2 and 8.1.0. For reference, we're running MediaWiki version 1.26.3.

Any help that you may be able to offer is much appreciated. Thank you! -- 24 June 2016

Ops, this sounds bad. So what changed in the meantime. Probably you did an upgrade from MW 1.xx to MW 1.26? Since the extension was working before, what was the change? --kgh (talk) 06:30, 25 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
At one point we updated from an earlier iteration of 1.26 (1.26.2 maybe?) to 1.26.3, but we've always been running 1.26. Other than that, all we've really done is add more extensions, which I don't feel like should make a difference. -- 27 June 2016
It could indeed be another extension causing this. Since this is the only thing that changed it may be the reason. However, I will try do use the extension on a MW 1.27 and see what happens. In the end it should be possible to run it with a decent set of popular extensions I believe. Cheers --kgh (talk) 08:08, 28 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
Found this Fatal error: Call to undefined method DifferenceEngine::setText() in /.../w/extensions/MassEditRegex/MassEditRegex.class.php on line 83 on a MediaWiki 1.27. Ouch. --kgh (talk) 12:18, 28 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
Hmm, I am unable to reproduce this issue again. Should have noted down the setup. In the meantime I upgraded from 8.0.3 to 8.1.0 to see how we go from there and found the extension working as expected on a MW 1.27 for an easy setup. --kgh (talk) 12:54, 28 June 2016 (UTC) PS I found another issue that can be avoided and does not make the milk sour. However I reported this task T138813 for it.Reply
Alright, we'll think about upgrading to 1.27 and see if the error goes away. In case you see anything that might be prone to interference on first glance, here's the list of our installed extensions: http://wiki.crygaia.org/view/Special:Version -- 28 June 2016
Hmm, I do not really see an extension which could be offending right away. I wonder why it does not detect the page. So doing an edit to a page you explicitly specify does not work either? --kgh (talk) 12:03, 29 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
I get the error regardless of whether or not I input specific page names, prefixes, category names, or backlinks. The only difference is it lists up to 20 pages that it thinks do not exist, rather than just the one. Which is strange, because apparently it can detect pages enough to see what links to them but not enough to actually edit them. We updated to 1.27 and still see the error, although we haven't gone through and updated all of the other extensions yet. -- 29 June 2016
There must be something in the water. Perhaps the error log of the server provides more details. --kgh (talk) 15:29, 29 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
Well, after running update on most of the other extensions, it works now. I guess in the end it was somebody else's problem. Thanks so much for your help! -- 29 June 2016
That's great news that is now working for you. So it is just the task T138813 I have detected in the meantime which can be avoided if the extension is used "properly". Cheers --kgh (talk) 07:53, 30 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
I too am having this problem. I am using the newest version (8.1.0) with MW 1.27.1. The only thing I can do is /$/ to add a new category. Anything else, it states the page doesn't exist. I've verified the pages exist, and what I want to edit is there. After installing this, I installed ReplaceText, and that worked just fine (except not recognizing /$/). I also tried having it run in browser, that didn't change anything. I also did a rebuildall.php, and that didn't affect anything. -- 9 Aug 2016
