Extension talk:Header Footer
Thank you for pointing this out. I have updated the docu for more clarity.
Was there a REL1_35 tag in the Git tree at any point? I understand 1.39+ is what's supported, but I was hoping to git pull
and check out an older release until I'm able to upgrade to 1.39.x. Just based on the Git history, it looks like the project is ~10 years old, but tags for older MW releases are curiously absent from the repo. --Ernstkm (talk) 01:29, 19 August 2023 (UTC)
Hello
i upgrade my MW from 1.35 to 1.39
i install HeaderFooter extension using this doc Extension:Header Footer
whene i run the update script i get this message "This version of the HeaderFooter extension requires MediaWiki 1.25+"
what can i do please my actual version is 1.39 > 1.25 ?
Thanks
You might want to try Wikia's version of the extension that is compatible with version 1.39. It is here. Or Halllo Welt's, which is here. If either or both work, it would be a good idea to add a note to the Extension page.
Cannot add categories to pages using HeaderFooter

Any idea what is going wrong here?
We have abandoned the HeaderFooter extension now and switched to PageNotice, which offers pretty much the same capabilities.
I'm sorry, but why is this not mentioned on the Extension page and why is PageNotice still referring to HeaderFooter as if it was a sensible alternative?
Is this intentional, or a known issue? I'm trying to allow all pages in the main namespace to be "tagged" with semantic properties, and that is accomplished through a template call in the header. However, I cannot set properties on the page through that template.
Thanks for this extension!
I am using the last version of the extension with Mediawiki 1.36. While the documentation says otherwise, __NONSHEADER__ removes the header, even on an unprotected page. Is it normal? Same with __NOHEADER__.
I would really love this option to work so I could unprotect pages while being sure the header stays in place
Are there any samole explain usage of this extension
How can I add some lines before </head> tag, not in top of pages ? This extension just adds header in top of pages not actually before </head>. How to edit the real header?
I'm not an expert, but my guess is that you have 3 options:
- Edit the skin
- Use a Hook in Localsettings
- Use JS in Mediawiki:Common.js
Have a look at the PCR GUI Inserts extension.
I do not have the option to connect in a shell to my MediaWiki installation.
I'm looking for an option to add 2 lines in the header (for Apple and Android touch icon) and a line in the footer for Matomo (PiWik). Manipulating the Skin template is becoming annoying from update to update.
Any hint to do this with an extension which does not need shell access? Thanks!
