So I can't find our, what this extension is all about. Please document the purpose of this extension without these external links.

Yes, I searched around the mediawiki manual to find out what is meant by Syntax. I'm afraid I don't understand. I've never installed an extension before. I can copy the php to a new file in the extensions folder and I can change local settings. But what is Syntax and what do I do with it?

Also, where do I encode the Google tracking string? You refer to it in some comments at the end of your explanation but I don't see where it goes.

Can you help?

Rewriting all external urls?

This extension is a nice idea, but the power of analytics is not really used, if you don't rewrite all links. So you have to go and look for every single external link, then change the code on each and every one of them. Is there a way to do this maybe in a way so it handles all external urls? This extension solves problems primarily with links to files (and external links in certain cases) - What it does is give Google (urchinTracker) a directory(folder) to assign the link to. I.E. A page won't be loaded that's running urchin.js, so the only way to track the link is to manually call urchinTracker(); and assign the hit to a particular folder (or page or whatever). What i am talking about is the ability to change the behavior of MediaWiki when you have something like [http://www.google.com Google] to be automatically have the analytics code for the URL attached in the HTML output. Might need a configuration variable like whats the base URL (for most its /outgoing/ anyways) but in general it is the idea to have this in the wiki so you do not have to go and add it by hand like in this analytics links extension. Is this extension of use anymore?

how to implement this?

Hi all,

so in already installed the analytics integration. now i installed this extension as well. What do i do after i've ffollowed the instructions on the page? How to i actually measure the outbound links? Is there anything that i have to change in wiki page?
