editbudget
edit- TODO - Once the board approves the budget, let's talk about how to plan to use the VDC budget & the dev tools contractor budget
- TODO - Quim, Rob & Sumana to discuss metrics contract
ambassadors / noticeboard notifications
edit- Original proposal at https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Talk:Tech/Ambassadors#Noteworthy_changes about a weekly tech summary (for upcoming deployments, etc.) living on mediawiki.org (or meta?)
- Recent proposal on enwiki about a "Developer's noticeboard" for developers to post tech announcements in a place free of the VP/T: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Village_pump_%28proposals%29&oldid=555024288#Developer.27s_Noticeboard
- Alternative proposal: Consolidate announcements on the ambassadors list and use bot to archive/link wikitech-ambassadors emails on wiki (talk page/noticeboard/archive): http://lists.wikimedia.org/pipermail/wikitech-l/2013-May/thread.html#69231
- Problem: it'd be better not to have to wait for someone to develop that tool; in the meantime, that wikitech-ambassador weekly summary could be folded into the previous "tech news" proposal, and posted using the Global delivery system to ambassadors talk pages, noticeboards, etc. And since we'd actually be using the distribution list more, we can advertise it more (Guillaume has an ambassadors recruitment blog post on his todo list). Also, recruitment for volunteers to help with the weekly summary (cf. discussion started with people from Signpost and similar community newspapers doing that kind of monitoring already)
Questions:
- Does that make sense?
- mediawiki.org or meta around Tech (Guillaume currently thinking meta, but there are arguments for both)
- any questions / comments / advice?
"Less is more" discussion
editProposal by Quim: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Talk:Technical_communications#Technical_communications:_less_is_more Quim: let's try to think about activities when posting a tech blog post, and vice versa, just to check if closer collaboration is relevant
wikimedia-l thread/rules for volunteers' participation
editAndre figuring out policy re adminship in BZ, groups - aim for early June for having a policy stated
Quick update by Andre about his outreach to dev teams for regular triage meetings (if time left)
edithttps://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Bug_management/Development_teams_usage Some teams Andre meets with regularly. Some teams take care of triage on their own. And then on TODO: Echo in E2, QA component.
- AFT is better now - fewer unprioritized & Highest
- WM Labs - Andre can change priorities; the Labs team doesn't really use it.
Situation is a lot better than it was 6 months ago!
