Marie-Paul is a software development manager for Wikimedia Canada. The chapter has partnered with Canadian Heritage to develop a new project to collect local knowledge of geography, wildlife, history and culture from remote communities in Canada.

The chapter has decided to build a new Android app to support the project, since the application is primarily about collecting information; connectivity is spotty in these remote regions; the target contributor population is primarily seniors and needs large fonts and simpler interfaces; and the application has to support English, several dialects of French, Canadian Gaelic, and aboriginal languages.

The chapter has hired a software development agency in Toronto to develop the app. Marie-Paul is the systems architect, and is responsible for the overall architecture, as well as making sure data access is working and the contractors are productive. The agency team is experienced with public data APIs from Google, Facebook, and Twitter as well as commercial APIs like Stripe.
