Code Health Group Sync-up - March 21, 2018

- Platform evolution program

In seeing our annual plans for the Code Health Program, Tim suggested that we take some of the platform team's planned activities and include them. Tim's added both some of his plans as well as Kunal's to the plans.

Invited Cindy to join the group. The PEP has some focus on Code Health topics. Good opportunities for collaboration.

- Code Health Program for FY 2018/19

As per past discussions, the Tech Debt program is being morphed into the broader Code Health program.

Erika suggested that we work with Community Liaisons to make sure that the broader developer community is included in Code Health discussions and efforts. If we all worked in an office together we'd put up posters every month on various themes.

JR is planning to do some kind of monthly communication on various themes in that model.

- Hack-a-thon

No submitted proposal, but will be doing an ad-hoc session on Code Health.

Actions:

- Community Liaisons

JR: talk to Qium and Erika

- Current and near-future refactoring theme

JR: Look to have a first quarter activitiy around refactoring efforts. Things to look for in addition to planned refactoring (code simplification, etc...)

- Code review as part of the refactoring for simplification and code health in general

JR: Work to help reviewers take code health into consideration when doing their reviews (what to look for/areas to focus on).
