Conference audience and mission edit

#MWCon will be a three-day conference featuring discussions of topics related to the usage of MediaWiki software by and within companies, non-profits, governments, organizations, and communities, including the Semantic MediaWiki community. If you use MediaWiki or you're interested in it, we would love to see you attend.

This conference aims to:

  • inspire/onboard new users,
  • inform on where and how MediaWiki is used,
  • convey and consolidate best practices,
  • initiate/foster/integrate application and development and
  • strengthen the community of stakeholders and its service portfolio.

Learn how to "do" MediaWiki in order to assume your responsibilities regarding your organization's knowledge management.

Conference venue edit

The conference venue Gasometer D is reachable by subway U3 (orange line), station "Gasometer". This line runs through the city centre (station "Stephansplatz" as well as "Landstraße" where travellers usually arrive from the Vienna Internatioal Airport). By car you take the exit "St. Marx" from the highway A23 and follow the signs to "Gasometer City". Car parking is available for 7,5 EUR/day. You can find details here: http://www.wien.gv.at/english/history/archives/contact.html

Travel and Accomodation edit

Accommodation edit

You are responsible for booking accomodation individually. We will soon provide some suggestions.

Airport edit

Vienna
Vienna Airport is reachable by the more expensive but fast CAT - City Airport Train or the slower but cheaper S-Bahn both arrive at the station "Landstraße" where you can take the U3 to Gasomater (direction "Simmering").
Note that the train "Railjet" departs from Vienna Airport and usually has the next stop at Vienna central station. From there you have to take the U1 to the city center (Stephansplatz) and change into the U3 (direction Simmering) to go to Gasometer.
Bratislava
An alternative (reached by some low-cost airlines) is the Bratislava Airport. From there you can take the bus or train.
